    UIDAI stands for Unique Identification Authority of India (भारतीय विशिष्ट पहचान प्राधिकरण), is a statutory authority established under the provisions of the Aadhaar Act, 2016 on 12th July 2016 by the Govt of India under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The authority was created with the objective to issue UID- Unique Identification Numbers (अद्वितीय पहचान संख्या), popularly known as “Aadhaar Card”, to all citizens of India. Aadhaar is a robust enough to eliminate duplicate and fake identities, also can be verified and authenticated in an easy, cost-effective way. Till now more than 111 core ‘Aadhaar Numbers’ is issued to the residents of India. Under the Aadhaar Act 2016, UIDAI is responsible for all related work of Aadhaar like Enrollment and Authentication (नामांकन और प्रमाणीकरण) including operation and management of all stages of Aadhaar life cycle, developing the policy, procedure and system for issuing Aadhaar numbers to individuals and perform authentication and also required to ensure the security of identity information and authentication records of individuals (व्यक्तियों के प्रमाणीकरण रिकॉर्ड).

    O~Procedure to Update of Aadhaar Card through Unique Identification Authority of India, Govt of India~O
    Aadhaar number is a great initiative of UIDAI, Government of India to empower residents of India with a unique identity and a digital platform to authenticate anytime, anywhere (किसी भी समय प्रमाणित करें, कहीं भी). Every individual is eligible to apply for Aadhaar Card, irrespective of their Age/Gender/Caste or Religion. But sometimes we need to update Aadhaar Card details as there are certain mistakes like Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Address, Mobile Number etc on it, which is need to be updated. There are 3 ways to update/change Aadhaar data (आधार डेटा को अपडेट/बदलना). Here in this article, we are going to tell all the 3 procedure (i.e. by Aadhaar Self-Service Portal, by Enrollment Centre, and by the Post) that how can we update our Aadhaar Data.​

    Ω⇒Update/Correction Aadhaar Details by Aadhaar Self Service Portal (Online Process)-
    First of all, the applicant will have to visit the online portal of UIDAI, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt of India (यूआईडीएआई, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार). The link is mentioned below. Then after, do the following procedure to complete the process of Aadhaar Update.
    • |-After Accessing the above website, scroll down and find the option of “Update Aadhaar Details (Online)” [आधार विवरण अपडेट करें (ऑनलाइन)] in the Aadhaar Update section. Click on the option as per given instruction in the below image.
    • |-Then after, you will be redirected to “Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal” [आधार स्वयं सेवा अद्यतन पोर्टल] (URL: -

    ©» Here you can update your profile in 4 easy steps Respectively: Step 1st Login with Aadhaar, Step 2 Update Data, Step 3rd Upload Documents, and Step 4th Select BPO Service Provider.

    • |-Any resident whose mobile number will have to register with the Aadhaar Number only can update their Aadhaar data through this portal. Mobile number is mandatory (अनिवार्य) to receive a password (OPT) for login.
    • |-Residents can update Name, Residence Address, Date of Birth, Gender, Mobile No, and Email Id through this portal. Also, required to upload the self-attested copy of relevant documents for update/correction.
    • |-Step 1st Login with Aadhaar (आधार के साथ लॉगिन करें), to start the process, please enter your 12 digits ‘Aadhaar No’ & ‘Text Verification’ in the appropriate boxes and then Hit the “Send OTP” button. After that, you will receive OTP- One Time Password on your registered mobile number.
    ©» Step 2nd Data Update Request (डेटा अपडेट अनुरोध): On the next page, enter the OTP and then fill up the Data Update of Aadhaar (Which is need to be corrected).

    ©» Step 3rd Documents Upload (दस्तावेज़ अपलोड करें): In this section, upload the scanned documents relevant to the update/correction (For Address/Name Change etc).

    ©» Step 4th BPO Service Provider Selection (बीपीओ सेवा प्रदाता चयन): now select the BPO Service Provider, available in your area.

    ©» Step 5th After Completion of Aadhar Update: Please note down URN- Update Request Number (अनुरोध संख्या का अद्यतन करें) to check the status of UID/Aadhaar Correction.

    §»Note: - You can update/correction Name, Gender, DOB, Residence Address, Mobile Number, and Email Address through the Aadhaar Self-Service Update Portal. For other updates, kindly visit the “Aadhaar Enrollment/Update Centre” (आधार नामांकन / अद्यतन केंद्र).

    To check the “Update Status” (नवीनतम स्थिति) of your request, please click the mentioned below link and enter the ‘Aadhaar Number’ & ‘URN- Update Request Number’ in the appropriate boxes. After that, enter the Text Verification in the required box and hit the “Get Status” button to know the result.

    Ω⇒Update/Correction Aadhar Card details at enrollment Center (Offline Process)-
    The people of rural areas don’t know how to use a computer, due to the illiterate. They mostly depend on the offline process for everything till now. For Aadhaar Card Update (आधार कार्ड अपडेट के लिए), they can visit the nearest "Aadhaar/Enrollment Centers" of their area and request for correction. If your mobile number is not registered with the Aadhaar Card then you also need to visit the enrollment center (नामांकन केंद्र) for mobile number update. It can only update the offline process. Also, the residents can update Aadhaar details at Aadhaar Kendra (आधार केंद्र): Name, Mobile, Email Address, Photo, IRIS, Fingerprints, Date of Birth, Gender, Residence Address etc.
    For update Aadhaar details through offline, the residents have more option to make a correction on it rather than the online process. For more information of Aadhaar Card Update & Correction, visit the nearby Enrollment Kendra (नामांकन केंद्र) and ask for the detailed information.

    Φ⇔Update Aadhaar Details through Post (पोस्ट के माध्यम से आधार विवरण अपडेट करें)-
    Aadhar Card update by post useful when updating the new mobile number in case of old one is lost. Apart from that, the residents can also update certain details like Name, Date of Birth, Permanent Address, Mobile Number, Email Id etc through Postal Service. Please click the given below link for “Aadhaar Data Update/Correction Form” (आधार डाटा अपडेट/सुधार फ़ॉर्म) for request through the post.
    After completed filled-up, the form as per requirement of Updation attached the supporting documents (सहायक दस्तावेज) in respect of correction (e.g. If you want to update your Date of Birth then proceed to duly attested copy of Birth Certificate) and then send it to the given below address by registered post.
